During the first decade of Starfleet deep space travel, before there was a Federation or a Prime Directive, an Earth ship named the Falcon defied Vulcan Star Charts and traveled to the Atlarus system. The forth planet from the sun was inhabited, but was in a decade-long draught without end is sight. The plant life was completely lost, and the animals were all but gone. The entire planet's population would be dead within the next two years. The problem was complicated by the planet's incredibly dense gravity, approximately six times that of standard. The crew of the Falcon did not let these obstacles stop them, however, and helped restore the planets ecosystem.
Over the next two centuries, the Atlarians rebuilt their society, advancing to levels equal to their ecological saviors and beyond. Knowing that their forefather's had made an "error", the Federation extended a membership offer to the Atlarians as soon as they achieved warp capability. What they discovered was a highly advanced race whose sole unified goal was to help others and improve lives. Taking the example set by the Falcon, they had expanded it into a way of life.
The planet would replace Risa as the pleasure planet except for the crushing effects of gravity. The exports - what few can truly exist off planet - are some of the sweetest fruit and strongest steel. While the inhabitants seem to have no problem in lower gravity's than their own, Atlarian children born off-world tend to grow to be at an average of eight feet tall, but with diminished "superhuman" capabilities at a one-quarter ratio. A home-born Atlarian is capable of bench pressing more than 6400 pounds, jump up to 60 feet straight up, and has lightning-fast reflexes in normal gravity environments. They typically are very massive in size, but are almost all very attractive as well.
