Background: The younger brother of vulcan twin brothers Taurik and Vorik, Salex followed a three generation career of Starfleet Engineers. His two brothers proceeded him, assigned to high-profile ships, but initially in low-key positions. However, that is fine, as vulcans are not in Starfleet for fame, but for service. Taurik continues to serve aboard the Enterprise, while Vorik has been assigned as Chief Engineer of the U.S.S. Voyager, under Captain Chakotay, after their return from the Delta Quadrant. Salex's life was not without loss, however. Serving aboard a ship near Earth, Salex's betrothed was assimilated by the Borg before they traveled back in time to change Earth history. She died more than 300 years before she was born.
After a two year turn as a professor's assistant at Starfleet Academy, Salex has also joined the tradition of high-profile ship service by being chosen to serve as the Cochrane's Transporter Chief.
