Background: At the height of the Dominion War, Reg Hurt was one of the many cadets who were rushed through the Academy to replenish the depleting Starfleet ranks. This was fine by him as he just wanted to get out into the field and fight. His lack of skill in most areas save for combat destined him for ship security, and probably wouldn’t have warranted graduation if not for the war.
After graduation, Hurt was assigned to third shift security aboard the U.S.S. Maverick only to have the war won a week before recieving his post. While a majority of the crew was reassigned, promoted or left the service, Hurt didn’t have enough experience or seniority to warrant a request. The ship entered starbase for a refit and restaffing for the next six months to be prepared for a deep space mission to escort with the U.S.S. Voyager. Hurt despised the idea of this type of assignment and felt as though he was trapped.
After eight months of travel toward the Delta Quadrant, the Maverick received return orders. Without gaining any specific information, the Voyager crew had managed to return to Federation space - making the rescue mission pointless. The Maverick returned to Federation space and was again brought in for a refit; this time to be prepared for deep space exploration. After almost a year and a half of doing nothing, Hurt was thinking twice about his career in Starfleet. It was while debating his future that word of the U.S.S. Cochrane spread through the fleet. He quickly volunteered to transfer aboard the prototype ship with the thoughts of grandure dancing in his head.
Personality: Hurt is a walking bad luck charm, but only for himself. While in good physical form and fairly capable, it seems that the gods enjoy using him as a kickball. He always seems to be the first person hurt, often in the most obscure ways. But through it all, he will continue to stick with the job, no matter how badly he is injured, and will be back for the next away mission.
