Background: Bak Xiam is human of Korean and Vietnamese descent. Though born in New Saigon twenty-two years ago, he grew up in Seoul. His life on Earth was, all in all, uneventful. At the end of his seventeenth year he applied to Starfleet Acadamy. He specialised in Operations and Engineering.

Personality: Xiam gets eaisily annoyed that people forget that Korean name conventions work like Bajoran ones. He has a natural affinity for operating machinery. He is urbane, used to 24th Century city life. He has a particular interest in the wars that were fought in his homelands 400 years ago, and as such, has developed a taste for the video literature of the age. His favourites are stories about the Ancient West. He has seen precious few films about his home continent, save for the one his favourite actor did. His John Wayne imersonation is spot on.
