DYNAMO
Game Master: Jim Caswell
(1) Dynamo, having a desire to expand upon his magical knowledge, decided to take a sabbatical from the Hawk and try to find a teacher. His first stop was back to the forest in Rockford, where he first emerged from Dulling Mire. Cautious about the site, he was startled by the arrival of a group of druids, who often worshipped in the woods. After being invited back to the druid priest's home, he began to learn of the magical draw to the forest, and that there were dozens of such spots all over the globe. He also learned that Stonehenge was considered the pinnacle of such sights, leading Dynamo to the conclusion that there would be the best place to continue his search. After thanking his host for his help, Dynamo once again teleported, transporting himself across the Atlantic.
Upon arriving in England, he learned of the local hero group - The Vigil - and their extreme operating procedures, even by Pallequin's standards. Avoiding contact with them, he made his way to Stonehenge and found the mystical energy surrounding the alter intoxicating. Taking a seat upon the alter, he began to cast a summoning spell to try to find another magic user. Within seconds, a portal opened beneath him, dragging him into an alternate dimension.
(2) Dynamo was shocked to once again be in the grasp of his old master, Grandiff. His summoning spell had led the Dulling Mire lord directly to him, and he now found himself once again imprisoned. After a torturous session of questioning about how he had escaped and where he had escaped to, Dynamo was separated from his cybernetic legs and sword and chained in the dungeon. Left there for days on end without food or water, Dynamo soon found himself delusional and weak, vulnerable to mental and physical attacks. His only companion proved to be a white rat, which seemed to watch him intently. But through it all, he refused to share how we had escaped or the dimensional location of Earth. This seemed to appease the rat, who - weeks later - spoke to Dynamo and offered him amnesty. Though fully believing that he was imagining things, Dynamo accepted the offer, and quickly found himself teleported from the dungeon.
(3) After several weeks of recuperation, Dynamo was finally levitated into a self-moving wheelchair and taken to a crystalline chamber. There he found the white rat that had kept him company in the dungeon, which transformed into an old man who introduced himself as Doctor Arcanum.
He told Dynamo of the ancient battle between the wizard Merlin and the dark warlord Delfan, which led to the creation of Dulling Mire. He also told that it was he who had enabled Dynamo to escape the first time from the war-torn dimension. He explained that it was his tradition to take on a pupil every one hundred years, and had noticed the extreme potential in the young John Robertson, but that the agents of Dulling Mire had gotten to him first.
Arcanum told Dynamo that the time for him to train Dynamo had passed - that the dark warlords had corrupted his training too much - but that Dynamo had come to a crossroads in his development. At that point, two sets of legs walked into the room supernaturally: His natural legs, which had been destroyed in battle years before, and the cybernetic legs he had been using ever since. Arcanum told Dynamo that he must make a choice, to dedicate himself totally to the use of technology or totally to the use of magic, for the two did not function together.
Dynamo didn't hesitate to dedicate himself solely to magic, causing his natural legs to walk over to him and magically bond to him. He was told by Arcanum that nothing could be done to reverse the shrinking spell that had been placed on him - a taint of the corrupt training he had received that would be with him forever - but that, if he proved himself capable to overcome his past, a balance could eventually be obtained and perhaps grant him a second opportunity to train under the ancient wizard. As a gift, Arcanum took Dynamo's old sword and appeared to transform it into a large egg. Once in Dynamo's hands, the egg hatched and a baby dragon was born. Arcanum told Dynamo that he must prove himself responsible by caring for the dragon. With that, Dynamo was returned to the Hawk Nest as a magic user and caretaker of the baby dragon, Jade.
